Joy and Anticipation

I am letting myself hope and treasure the joy of life.

Faith leaders representing Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu and Christian communities gathered is Sydney to pledge support for the Uluru Statement from the Heart. My friend Sherry Balcombe, a woman of Indigenous Spirituality, was there.

A taxi driver with a PhD from a Lebanese University decided, with his wife to live on a simple budget day by day.. Any extra in takings at the end of the day would go to their village in Lebanon where poverty is extreme.  Since making that decision he has had more fares than ever before.

I have friends who have each invested in a house. South Australia. Queensland. Victoria. In these difficult times this is reason for joy.

Representatives of the Catholic community in Australia will, in early July, meet to conclude a Plenary Council. Not since the time of the Second Vatican Council in the 1960s has the Catholic Church in Australia undergone such a profound period of prayerful soul searching. I anticipate and work towards an inspiring outcome.

The new Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, pledged to listen and support the Uluru Statement from the Heart.

My mother had a Daphne bush.  The family ensures that we each have cuttings from this bush.  I have a healthy aerial graft ready to be planted out in the spring.
